Heading to Coinjock, North Carolina

Water Moccasin on shore by marina

We spent Tuesday trying to figure out what was wrong with the engine.  A mechanic was to stop by around 5:00 that afternoon.  Michael changed the fuel hoses, O rings on the Raycor filters, and other fuel lines as well.  The fuel still went down in the Raycors when we started the engine.  Finally, a fellow sailor that we met the evening before came down to help out and discovered that the valve that opens and closes the auxiliary fuel pump was in the open position.  Not good - we were sucking air into the fuel line!!  Now we had this same problem once before and vowed never to touch that valve again.  And no-one had but I guess somehow the rough ride pushed that valve open.  So... now we have it tie wrapped shut (as a matter of fact we went ahead and put two tie wraps on)!!!  Best of all we didn't need the mechanic.  Plan to leave in the am as more storms are predicted for Friday.
